KATHY

Kathy Gordon

President & Owner
"Hi! I'm Kathy. I'm a Furniture Expert with over 25 years of experience in both the retail and design worlds. I've worked on the ground in retail stores in sales and management, educated retail sales staff through my own private consulting firm, and worked independently with clients from all over the world furnishing their homes through my Interior Design business, Kathy Gordon Interiors. My most recent venture before creating Southern Heritage Home was designing furniture for manufacturers – some of which are in-store today!
My goal in uniting 4 stores together under the Southern Heritage Home banner is to stay on-trend and provide our customers with quality built, fresh furniture styles  - at a great price point.
Each customer has their own unique equation for the style and function that will work for their families. Our knowledgeable Sales, Design, and Admin teams help make customers feel confident and comfortable shopping for investments in their homes.
When I'm not in-store, I'm spending time with my husband, Sam, and dog Ollie in the mountains, working on my own home, and visiting with family."

Sam Gordon

Vice President and Owner

"Organization comes to me naturally as I've worked in outside sales for many years. I worked at a Window Treatment company for 10 years before joining my wife Kathy as Co-Owner of Southern Heritage Home. I've been involved assisting and advising Kathy in her design business for over 25 years - from showroom design and construction to installations for her clients as well as attending High Point Furniture Market.  I’m detailed almost to a fault in my work.  Any project I take on, I research and implement it exactly as the customer or the organization requests it. I will double and triple check things to ensure accuracy. I am always listening to my team and am open to improving the way we work. We should always strive to question how we do something and ask ourselves if it is the most effective way to do the task. This helps us all find new ways to save time and money.  If there’s a problem, I enjoy working with our folks to find the solution. In my spare time I like taking Kathy and Ollie out on the paddle board for a ride on the lake. I also enjoy bike riding and, when I get the chance, a nice game of golf."

William's Headshot

William Hollar

General Manager
I started my furniture career in the mid-80s with an upholstery manufacturing company called J. Royale Furniture. I was there from the onset, being one of the first eight employees. I contributed heavily in building the company and ultimately, became a furniture rep in the late 80s through the early 90s. I started with the Tennessee, Kentucky, Mississippi, and Alabama territories, before moving to Boston, Massachusetts, where I met my wife-to-be, Nancy.

Nancy, our 2 daughters and I moved to North Carolina where we have lived ever since. I worked for Lee Industries in the mid-90 and  it was a great experience with varied responsibilities for a well-respected product. In the early 2000s, I was offered a retail sales position for another highly respected furniture company, Boyles Furniture. I began in sales and was promoted to management in the first year, and went on to become Manager of their Online Department. Unfortunately, Boyles could not rally after the 2008-2009 economic downfall.

After Boyles, I made a career change: for the next 12 years I took my internet experience and helped build a local Internet Marketing Firm: Easyfish Marketing. I learned everything from website building and SEO to AdWords management.  I enjoyed my time with my Easyfish family. When the opportunity was offered to become General Manager of Southern Heritage Home and her stores, it was a hard decision. However, I am so glad that I chose to take on the challenge to work with Kathy Gordon and everyone here at Southern Heritage Home."

Internet Sales
15 Years of Sales Experience

My position allows for creativity and artistic expression and I love how it does not feel like work or a job, but it is a fun and fulfilling career. I am able to help people from all over the world furnish and style their home by collaborating with what our manufacturers offer to what they desire their homes to look like. Folks share pictures of their spaces with me and I go to work shopping for them and sharing what works and giving advice on what won't work.

In my spare time, I enjoy creating memories with my toddler son. We always share afternoon playtime (dancing, cooking, bike riding oh and Walmart is quite the adventure) and I get to see the world through the eyes of a child and its so recharging.

Sales/Design

I have always had an interest in creating an inviting place for family and friends to gather. I have been with Southern Heritage Home for 4 years in sales and design and very blessed to have the opportunity to meet so many delightful people. It brings me great joy to help individuals solve their dilemma for that specific piece of furniture that will create an exceptional area in their home. My personal goal is to always give the best customer service possible. I feel my commitment to my customer is not complete until their furniture has been safely placed in that special spot that is sure to bring years of enjoyment.

Outside of work I like to golf & spend time with friends & neighbors. So believe it or not... I like "shopping" furniture in my leisure time so that I can help current & future customers get what they want.

Sales/Design

"March marks two years working at SHH. Being a Film Production Major, I never saw myself working in sales and design. It has been a surprisingly good fit and I still get to use my creativity and imagination while working with customers. I grew up in Hickory, but lived in Florida seven years before the pandemic had me moving back to my hometown. My last job was producing videos for a travel agency in Florida. Traveling the world was priceless and lovely, but working with well-crafted North Carolina furniture has made me proud of where I grew up."

Visual Merchandise Manager
I am currently the Visual Merchandise Manager for Southern Heritage Home and have been with the company for the past three years.  Working in furniture for over 25 years, and partnering with wonderful companies such as Drexel Heritage, Century and many other manufacturers in the Hickory area has been my passion.  Keeping current about design and color trends along with listening to our customers and their needs continues to inspire and encourage me to keep our stores looking fresh and relevant.   Southern Heritage Home has afforded me many opportunities during each day to bring order and beauty to an ever changing retail floor,  truly exciting.  Our amazing sales team is always hard at work, product is coming in and moving out to homes all over the country at a rapid rate.   That makes each day full,  exploring ways to keep our sales floor looking interesting and approachable for our valuable customers.  When I'm not at work here in the mart I enjoy gardening and eating what our land gives us as well as visiting my children and new grandchildren.
